Geyser LNG project is all about the promotion and development (building and operation) of a 10.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) baseload liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in the Southern part of Nigeria. The liquefaction technology has the option of being either a highly profitable stick built, two train liquefaction plant of 5.2 MTPA per train or a highly profitable, efficient, safe, and modular, natural gas liquefaction technology in multiple trains.
This project, which will further expand Nigeria’s LNG export opportunities will comprise of a novel marine terminal (for accommodating and berthing various sizes of LNG vessels) and an upstream gas pipeline that will gather and supply raw gas to the facility. Large LNG storage will be installed at the terminal which will be powered with highly efficient gas turbine power plants configured to require relatively minimum energy demand. The overall goal is for Geyser LNG facility to provide lower carbon, reliable Nigerian natural gas to local, regional and global markets.
Our ongoing screening and evaluation work for the Geyser LNG project has identified multiple ideal locations that can serve as project sites and we will be strategic in selecting the best location, which should be in best proximity to the most important upstream gas supplier assets, including all relevant, existing and planned intrastate and interstate natural gas pipeline assets and not excluding the most prolific natural gas resource basins both onshore and offshore Nigeria. Such project siting will assure a seamless movement of produced natural gas from producing locations to export terminal and to market. Nigeria already has abundant natural gas reserves, both proven and unproven most of which are held in Nigeria’s Niger Delta states in volumes of approximately 800 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Geyser LNG is in the process of engaging with world-class, industry-leading companies that are prepared to enter into relevant sales and purchase and other levels of partnership agreements with us. We will also be engaging with owners of the best proprietary liquefaction technologies.
The benefits of the Geyser LNG Project has been outlined on the “About Us” page of this website. It is already obvious that this project will advance the natural gas-based industrialization of Nigeria, a gas-rich country which currently touts the decade of gas initiative that can drive massive economic growth following a multi-billion US Dollar investment in key facilities like a marine terminal, upstream gas pipeline and liquefaction facilities. Such a growth will be activated by the thousands of jobs and opportunities that will be created throughout the start, execution and completion of the project. As the industry continues to pursue the net zero goals, demand for natural gas and LNG will continue to grow, and this is great opportunity for Nigeria due its abundant gas reserves, and Nigeria’s active participation in this industry should be sacrosanct. At Geyser LNG, we believe that Nigeria requires significantly increased natural gas exploration, drilling and production that can supply the midstream and downstream sections of the value chain. This is essential in order to guarantee the long-term sustainability of any relatively large scale gas project such as ours.
The Geyser LNG project development phases will adhere to all environmental regulations and our community relations will be excellent. As part of this commitment, Geyser LNG will conduct relevant studies and surveys that will ensure environmental protection with excellent collaboration with all communities affected by this project which is an obvious effort to promote good and mutually enriching and beneficial relationships and consultations. We will organize public events and hearings and make multiple presentations with representatives from regulators like the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) (formerly known as the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR)) and in order to promptly address environmental and community issues arising from the project. We will seek for the issuance of relevant authorization for Geyser LNG to sell and/or export liquefied natural gas and other associated fluids from the selected export facility to local, regional and global markets.
